Tahsis - the inspiration for this new collection of watercolours -  is located at the end of Nootka Sound on Vancouver Island.
“Mom – Tahsis is the most beautiful place in the world” – Seth Goossens (Sue's son)
Seth was working in Tahsis this past spring which presented Sue and friend, Rhonda, with a perfect opportunity for a visit and a chance to collect reference material .  The village of Tahsis is rather remote but well worth the three hour drive from the airport in Campbell River.
‘The mountains are everywhere but not as massive as the BC mainland.  And the mist…..   I found it captivating. “
Sue was led through old growth forest, around lakes, and along river banks.  The tree planting boat was use to explore Nootka Sound all the way to Zeballos, an old lumber town.  It was impossible not to be inspired.
“I have started my artistic exploration of Tahsis with a collection of watercolours featuring some of my favourite subject matter – mist and waterfalls.  I am extremely motivated to paint every time I review my 500 photos so there will be many more works to be generated.”
